Smells very sweet, caramel, vanilla and dried fruits. The taste has a nice burn but gets smooth very fast. At first it's the caramel, vanilla and lots of fruit. After it settles the wood tones it down nicely into a complex mix of flavours.
It's an exiting rum to drink, pricewise around 60/70€.
It's one that I will keep in my (little) collection.
This bottle can match up to the FS ECS release for a more afordable price.
Just an amazing rum
Doorly's 14 year is one of my favourite rum. This actually tastes slightly better than the 12 year and still has a wonderful finish that seems to last throughout. Overall this is a fantastic rum.
Nose is wood to me. Not sweet. Has a spicy finish with a bit of burn.
On the nose: dark caramel, dark berries, oak, sweetness, caramelized fruits, a hint of molasses / cane sugar, vanilla.
On the palate: caramelized ripe fruits, molasses, dark caramel, oak, spices, black currants, dark chocolate.
Finish: oak, dark caramel, bitterness, dark chocolate with slightly tart fruits (burnt star fruit), long and intense, spices (cinnamon, cloves, cardamom).
In der Nase: dunkles Karamell, dunkle Beeren, Eiche, Süße, karamellisierte Früchte, Hauch Melasse/Rohrzucker, Vanille.
Am Gaumen: karamellisierte reife Früchte, Melasse, dunkles Karamell, Eiche, Gewürze, schwarze Johannesbeeren, Bitterschokolade.
Im Abgang: Eiche, dunkles Karamell, Bitterkeit, dunkle Schokolade mit leicht säuerlichen Früchten (angebrannte Sternfrucht), lang und intensiv, Gewürze (Zimt, Nelken, Kardamom).
I tried that in bar in my hometown Volos Greece. Happily surprised with my choice!
I was not aware at that moment with this firm!It is a strong rum (48% after all)! Not so sweet and that is what it makes it great for me!! You should definitely try it!! I am considering to buy one for Christmas!
Woody oak notes dominate initially giving to some fruit.
"Lots of ginger and spicy oak on the initial entry. There is a slightly bDoorly's Fine Old Barbados Rum Aged 14 Years rum review by the fat rum pirateitter note in the oak notes. A slight astringency. Finish wise we are left with a spicy and slightly heated end to the rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
