Alegro Reserva 5-Year

Decent rum. Very nice packaging and color. Overall groom flavor but wish is had a stronger flavor

Good rum, some oak aroma and flavor to it. It’s a good choice for the price but for a 5 dollars difference I will go for the XO next time.

I was so impressed with their Ron Alegro XO two days ago that I went back to pick up it's younger brothers. Since this is an agricole and with me knowing to keep the aging to a minimum to avoid excessive oak flavor, I figured that less aging could be better. This one is quite good, but the absence of the WOW factor just does not allow it to enter into my higher ratings. One only saves $5 US by stepping down from the XO to this Reserva. But for only $30 US, this is still a very good buy.

Rum tasting started with Rum Alegro Reserva 5y. Pretty nice bottle and label design. Mahogany color. Strong oak and vanilla to the nose and palate when neat sipped. Very sweet and short burn at the end. Much better mixed with your favorite soda, but could be enjoyed also as a very cost efficient neat sipper.
