I hate when you buy a bottle that everyone raves about and I just didn’t like it. It was bitter. Everyone’s tastes are different.

I am partial to sweet rums, and even if this is not a very sweet rum, is has a smoothness that makes it an easy sipper. Particularly when one lets it stand for a while before tasting. By all means recommended. A pity to mix or dilute this.

Based on value and comments from this site, I looked to taste this rum for a while and finally found it at a rum bar in Florida. I must say that I was not disappointed at all. It's a mellow sipping rum with a very nice bouquet. For a rum in this price range, I highly recommend it.

Nose: Honey, cinnamon, brown sugar. Bananas, vanilla and a little smoke/incense. Some oak prickle and a little bit of pepper, maybe from the French oak?

Palate: Rounded and soft mouth feel. Dry but with taste of maple. Pineapple, dried tropical fruit (papaya, guava, mango) and banana again. Oak (some age showing), caramels and cinnamon again.

Finish: Dry, medium and fresh. Spicier than the palate with some candied stem ginger, cracked black pepper and a faint hint of something from the spice cabinet, maybe some cumin, cayenne or paprika.
