From the quality perspective: it's totally unremarkable. It's very sugary with obviously added flavours: fruits (cherries?), vanilla, spices (black pepper comes to my mind). Too sweet for my taste, clearly artificial in nature, the flavour disappears extremely quickly, no persistence whatsoever.
Ok, the Rum family is rather large and there is no "official" position as to what a Rum should be like... Yet this spiced drink is not Rum in my book: call it liquor.
I think that this product has an interesting quality/price equation especially if you bought it to blend it in a cocktail.
One simple question: if you rate 7 this Rum, how would you rate a Hampden Estate, full proof? Or a Demerara, 15 y.o. by Samaroli, or even more humbly a Remember by Pepi Mongiardino? This I would like to know.

when used right. I like Sailor Jerry's more than other spiced rums on the market, and this one is, as most spiced rums are, a good mixing rum, especially in Egg~Nog around the holidays! Nothing wrong with drinking it with Coke, lots of ice and a wedge of lime, either. (I would imagine it goes well with fruit juices, also, but I have no experience to verify that claim.) I know a lot of people say "Dr. Pepper", but I've not tried that. Vanilla and cinnamon flavors are at the forefront of this rum's character, which makes it sweet but with a tasty little burn to it, too. I don't care who says what - I like it.

The flavor is just solid. Nothing beyond special but I generally judge all spiced to this guy

Waited a while before getting round to this one. Easy to find easier to sip. Doubled up with coke and ice and you could be entertained all night. Light taste loads of vanilla and a sweetness that lingers for a few minutes making me want to sip again and again.

This is a great alternative for your long drinks; mixes well with Ginger Beer or with a fresh Cola on a hot sunny day!

Thought this was a bargain at the time. You have to mix it - it's not for sipping. Watch out for an awful hangover. I'm biased now against spiced rums.

Un Rhum des caraïbes qui conviendra parfaitement à tous vos cocktails, ou un Rhum de tous les jours à boire pur par ex...une chouette note de vanille en finale très agréable!

My go-to cheap mixer rum. At around $20 I can't think of any [widely available] rums that I'd rather pick up for making Rum and Cokes. It tastes like bad cough medicine when drank by itself, but you can taste the vanilla and spices fairly prominently without the artificial flavoring taking over when mixed. Would definitely keep it on hand, especially if want to keep your more expensive rums to yourself.

I adore the flavour combo this gives you... mixed with coke, or on ice. it was my introduction to spiced rum and ive never looked back.. a late introduction to the joys of rum, i was a bourbon man before but this had me converted before my first bottle had been emptied. the spices arent too strong. i was told that old J was like the original Jerry recipe... I tried and I'm not a fan.. old j is too much in your face where as Jerry is a bit more subtle

This is my favourite spice rum. Nice sweet spice that goes down pretty smooth neat but is best with some cola or ginger ale. Have gone through a few bottles!
