Sailor Jerry is like the amped up version of Captain Morgan. Higher alcohol, slightly more burn, and a more potent and aggressive flavour. None of which is a bad thing. It does it's job as a mixing spiced rum, perfect for a Rum and Coke or with Ginger. What else can I say? It's a classic.

Love the value of this rum, my go to for a spiced and soda water. That being said, I would not give it more than a 5 just due to some really great rums I have had.

Has this nasty pine sap flavor. It's not gin and it's not anything like rum. Horrible! Don't bother!

High proof then the captain, mixes fine in drink, high octane to the nose and at least as a metal cap compared to Captain Morgan.

Everyday rum to put with a mixer or neat to sip at the end of the day. Nothing amazing about it. Not bad but not great.

Decent Nose with the typical Vanilla, and spice aroma, I did pull out some leather smell along with Oak. The taste isn’t bad, leather, oak, vanilla, spices with a nice alcohol hug on the way down. I’ve gone through Two bottles in a year, so it’s a good low cost choice for a Rum and Coke. There’s better out there for a few dollars more, but it’s not a bad choice on a budget.

Strong taste of alcohol. The Coke is necessary. Good for drinks.

Maybe not a great sipping rum, it’s mainly a mixer, but it does that well, makes great rum and Coke’s or Cuba libres! Almost taste like it has a cherry – like flavor, obviously some spices in there, but so what, it’s a spiced rum so it’s supposed to taste like that! Anyway, I like it.

While I'm generally not a fan or consumer of store-bought spiced rum (it's seriously easy to make yourself, people!) this is one of the better options in a bind. Higher proof with a sweet cherry & vanilla profile, it goes down dangerously well with coke. A little bit too much added sugar for my palate but if you're looking for a spiced rum, skip the "Captain" and go with the "sailor".

This bottle made me wonder what else must be out there, there must be a whole world of delicious rum out there to sample. Until very recently this was a staple at my house. Narrowly beaten out by red leg in the budget section (but more readily available). For a cheap bottle you can’t go wrong at all.
