This is the grandpappy of the Rums I have tasted. It was bottled at the age of 58 years, and is said to have been distilled at Long Pond distillery in 1941. AT 50%, is starts a bit buttery - an odd oaky butter offnote. The taste is curiously so also, with the Jamaican fruitiness also coming out. Banana-butter? A bit butyric. Oak - definite oak. Surprised? Not one bit. Cedar. Not the finest Jamaican, but the oldest I have ever tried.
