Tasted at Flotsam Paradise March 24, 2023.
Clear rum, nice flavor.
Flavor is... rum? 6 stars.
Edit: tasted 3/27/22 at Laka Lono and this round I gave it 2/5 barrels so I will lower my score to a 5.
notes from 2022 say: finished the bottle, huzzah! aroma: butter, which was detectable even after mixing into coca cola, which is not a good thing. Eh. probably should mix this in something.
I tried this white rum at a distillery tasting in early 2023. The nose is quiet and the palate is smooth and not harsh. I think it would go well in a white rum-centered cocktail but is a little bland for sipping.
Tasted at Laka Lono on 1/28/20. Pours clear. This has the aroma of mayonnaise. Reminds me of church fluff dessert. So awful, I could not drink it neat and had the rest made into a daiquiri. That sucked also.
Retasted on 3/24/23 at the Flotsam Paradise. Cotton candy aroma. Mango kiwi fruit flavors, but the finish still lousy and chemical. Improved score from 1 to 4
Strong smell of a sugar cane juice sip sweat, soft with a strong finish and a bit bitter aftertaste. Nothing more to say, just a quality sip for the ones who enjoy non complex and straight forward taste. Good with cola, easily possible to sip until drunk.
The smell was not too good, but the taste is really mild and easy. One of the big pro's for me is that this rum is not sweet at all, which I find really pleasant. Good price, nice label, and cool that it comes from Louisiana instead of all the usual suspect-countries. Really enjoyed this one!
When I opened the bottle, I smelled a bit of Captain Morgan White. Not really a compliment.
A strange smell that I cannot properly describe. Something chemical. The rum is very soft but also has a strange taste, not something I like. That's why I can't make it 7.
Klare Farbe, extraktreich.
Aromen von Zuckerwatte und gebrannten Nüssen.
Feinwürzig, leicht süßlich.
Warm, füllig mit mittellangem Abgang.
Etwas einseitig.
This lovely white rum is made in Lacassine, Louisiana, deep in the Cajun swamp lands that share the same name with the spirit in question, the Bayou.
Although the rum is made from both molasses and raw sugar it reminds of the earthy qualities of an agricole style rum.
After this unique mash is blended and fermented the rum is distilled with a copper pot still and rested for 40 days on American oak. Having taken home medals for best white rum at many competitions over the last 8 years, this beautiful cane product deserves a place in your heart as well as your liquor cabinet. Drink it neat or make a killer daiquiri for you and your friends.
🥃
Nose: Grassy Vegetal, Earthy with slight vanilla notes.
7.5/10
Taste: Vanilla Ice cream, Pine, Molasses.
9/10
Finish: Hot & Spicy bite, with a lingering sweetness.
8/10
Overall: A lovely white rum that I could easily drink neat or use in juicy cocktails.
⭐️8.2⭐️
This is a lovely, tasty white rum! Had no expectations, but hey - I do like this. The spirit is alive with flavours, and the product does seem naturally so. Well done!

Among the very few white ones I liked 6 out of 10
Typically you can't expect much of a white rum and this one delivers no different. A smooth one, but with harsh, not to say unpleasent nose (which is not noticed in a cocktail).Good for Mojito, where the yellowish tint of Plantation 3 Stars doesn't look quite well.
