Nose: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Wooden aroma, spiced rum with taste of clove
Tastes stroger than 43%, but very smooth and rich mouthfeel.
A bit of oak and tabacco, than a vanilla. I like it!
This is a delightful drop for the age ... Not amazing which is why it only scores an 8.
Woody , smoky lovely flavour ... A touch wetter than a dry Cuban rum but still full of depth ...couldn't distinguish this between the 12 flor de Cana de Cana (I know the floor de Cana only has a drop of 12 in it ) ... This might explain the smokiness and woodyness
I tried this yesterday. This is Nicaraguan rum but I think it's close to the Mombacho, not Flor de Cana.
Although it is less soft oily, it has a dark chocolate flover and is more rich taste.
I favorite, recommend this.
Good rum despite short aftertaste with full taste of oak, caramel, nuts, orange..
Nice surprise for me. Aroma is full of wood, caramel and sugar cane. Taste is very intensive with flavours of caramel, vanilla, oak and tobacco. Smoked finish with medium burn.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Remarkable rum from Nicaragua

On the nose I can feel strong charred barrel, cocoa, dried fruits, citrus fruits, spices acompanied by frankincense and furniture polish, the smell is strong, complex and very likable. On the palate, the entry is sweet and fruity, quickly turns into a complex middle, with sweet dried fruits, dark chocolate and bitter spices, turns into strong charred barrel ending, the aftertaste is long, strong, spicy, dark chocolate and grapefruit, with very dry, peppery and almost ashy ending. The rum body albeit rich and strong, is remarkably smooth, the dry spicy kick is only at the end the taste profile, and it is very entertaining. I had a few bottles of Flor de Cana, which did not impress me much, but this one is totally different story, I like it a lot. No sugar added. First had a sample which was so good that I decided to buy a bottle. Really lovely piece, rich in all aspects, nose, taste and aftertaste. The alcohool kick in the aftertaste is not for the fainthearted though - would it be less pronounced it would have been straight 10.
