Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

This this is caramel in its finest sense. Difference is tastable from the first sniff, the experience in the palate is significantly different from what you've had before. You sense immediately you're having something special. Like I said, the flavor is very caramelly, smooth as very few, on the leathery side and a relatively strong cherry compared to rums. Flavor is finer than it is complex, more honest than pretentious, it gives you a smooth, but awesome straight experience of the flavors that I mentioned. It's different.
I love the 23 yo. The XO is the natural evolution and the corrected version. Very very round with caramel and oak with the smoothest finish you can wish for. Priced at ~99€ I walked past it many times until I stumbled upon an airport deal for 65€. In the future I'll be ready to pay the full price.
Straight up or 1 ice cube
This rum is extremely smooth with a nice long finish. It coats your mouth beautifully leaving yoir tongue wanting more of that experience.
It smells divine, and taste of fruits like a Christmas fruit cake.
This rum is best appreciated at room temperature with nothing else but you really appreciating its beauty.
