had this rum recently

Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

One of the first rums I purchased and enjoyed it at the time, but as my rum horizons have widened, I now find it over-sweet.

There is so much sugar present that it overwhelms just about everything else the rum has to offer.

If you live in Canada then this is likely the smoothest rum you can buy.

Exceptionally smooth with a fairly sweet aftertaste. At $80 a bottle you would be crazy to mix this.

My second favourite sipping rum after Diplomatico Reserve/

I just finished my first bottle of this and I am impressed. This is an easy drinker with a nice finish. Yes it's not a 23 year old but for $70 CAD I was satisfied and will buy again

Expert en kenners zijn er over eens dat deze rum behoort tot de top, sommigen durven zelfs te stellen dat dit de beste rum is ter wereld. Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 Year heeft dan ook de nodige prijzen gewonnen die zijn reputatie kracht bijzetten;

Was expecting more from a 23 year old rum. Wouldn't buy this again. There are way better rums out there for much less

De sabor intenso, para mi gusto muy invasivo sobre todo por que se toma en las rocas

It tastes really good, but I thought it would be sort of mind-blowing. Glad I got it as a present. I would rather drink a rum that is less known instead of paying for the name.

This is an excellent rum. It runs a little on the sweet side. So, if that's not your preference you may not enjoy it as much.

It's a complex taste with vanilla, some spice and a bit of oak. The color is very caramel and the body has good legs.

The nose is a bit to medical/alcoholic and this is what I find Zacapa Solera 23's weakness. It also affects the aftertaste a bit.

It's also a beautiful bottle, although I'd trade that for ugly if it were $10 less expensive.

Reading other reviews there are complaints about just how aged it really is. I don't know and don't care. I do know how smooth it is and that's what counts. Perhaps Zaya is a bit smoother but it lacks the complexity and full body of Zacapa.

Money aside, if I have to pick only 1 bottle of rum for my "last meal" Zacapa Solera 23 is going to be 1 of the top 3 I'll be choosing from.

I’ve downgraded this from a 9 to an 8. As I’ve sampled more, I’ve concluded the alcohol smell is higher than too many others. What once was a top five is now a secondary choice.

I love the Ron Zacapa Solera 23! I always keep a bottle in the cabinet and truly enjoy its flavor on the rock, straight up, or at times with coke. This one is truly a must try for yourself and form your own opinion on. For me, a great rum for a great price.

dont get me wrong, its still good one, smoothy with good descent, but after all i read, i expected something more. I couldnt find the sweetness while they said its one of the sweetest rums. on the other side, if i compare price and taste outcome, there are better, thats why giving 7, not 8.
like the other one said: Yes it tastes great. No it is not a genuine aged rum.

gout fin, sans le coté agressif de l'alcool, doux, vanillé, je le conseille vivement pour rentrer dans le monde complexe et fort sympathique des rhums.
