Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Enjoyed this one a lot around the campfire last summer. Just bought my 2nd bottle.
If you have sweeter tastes, or friends who reject drinking neat spirits, then Ron Zacapa is for you. Ron Zacapa Solera 23 is certainly a sweet rum, but has more than enough flavor to back it up.
A great and dependable rum. Always enjoyable and easy to come across.
I find it to be sweet and the flavor somewhat flat. I expected a bit more out of it after having some other solera rums. Overall, a decent rum but probably not worth the price.
In terms of price / quality ration this is my overall winner so far. Straight, for some maybe a bit too sweet but still very good.
My first "expensive" rum that I tasted. Loved it and started my rum adventure from this. Since then I find it still has a good taste, but it's too sharp.
rhum de type hispanique on retrouve la douceur. Il y a aussi un côté boisé.
Très complexe et agréable à déguster
Like this 1 much better, than the 15, this is the rum for me where the rum journey started whitout coke, with dark chocolate really nice for sipping
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.
