Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Ron Zacapa is a letdown for me since I at expected a rum to at least make me doubt my favorite. Not quite as honeyed vanilla sweet as I like and more burn in the mouth. It's also about 20% higher than Says. Solid 7

Probably one of the sweetest rums I've tasted and incredibly smooth, not sure if it's as sweet as the Zaya. Was a little disappointed to learn the the colors and sweetness are added, but it is an overall pleasant rum to be sipping with it's vanilla and caramel tones.

Great sipping rum with tastes of tobacco, chocolate and molasses.

Tried this while on honeymoon in Vanuatu last October. Been trying to get my hands on another bottle since.

I'm a long-time Bundaberg Rum drinker (have 150 bottles in the collection), as that rum dominates the market in Australia. I've tried 20-30 different Bundaberg Rum's, but this takes the cake.

If you are a rum drinker that likes their rum sweet...Then this is for you. Can drink neat, but I enjoyed it best with a mixer.

I rated it a 7, only because in my opinion it's not at that level to enjoy purely on a neat basis. None the less its a beautiful drinking rum.

A little too sweet for my liking, which leaves it a little unbalanced.
But as far as drinkability goes, its right up there. Very moreish, and if you are not careful, you end up finishing the bottle.

This is simply one of the best aged rums on the market!

This rum is soft and full of flavor nuances. Lovely color and the scent is as soft as the taste . The taste of caramel and a bit of oak barrel is lovely. I think this one will sit on my shelf at any time.

sweet and good. Everybody know it, but hype around it is harassing. I vote for very similar, but a bit smoother and cheaper Diplomatico 12y.

This is the rum that got me interested in rum. I still enjoy sipping this rum. It is smooth with a little bite at the end. It is also very sweet... maybe even a little too sweet. Strong caramel flavors. Not a lot of complexity but a good rum that deserves a strong reputation.

Rigtig god duft og meget volumen i smagen. til den søde side og super lang eftersmag. Men også lidt enkel i smagen, lidt forudsigelig fra sip til sip.

And still one of my favorites. Straight up not quite so smooth as you would like, but with just a drop of water, (or a single small ice cube), it opens up and mellows out nicely. There is a lot going on in this rum. Honey, spice, a little oak, caramel, with a moderate finish.
