Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

In terms of price / quality ration this is my overall winner so far. Straight, for some maybe a bit too sweet but still very good.

I love this rum. It is so versatile, wonderful with a splash of coke or just sublime with ice. Smooth as silk from start to finish.

Personally, I believe this Ron Zacapa to be great when making a rum sour. I cannot mix it with Sprite like I do some of my other rums, considering it is not as sweet as the other rums I typically enjoy. It would probably go better with Coke, but I haven't had Coke in awhile. Maybe I will try it one day.

For me, I fine rum. Smooth taste with a hint of plums, later on a hint of honey. A bit too sweet. Aftertaste goes on for a long time. Prefer it without ice

I originally received this as a gift and have bought several since. I drink this instead of vsop cognac.

First of all. I'm not a fan of rum's that seems filtered through sugar-canes in the bottling process. To be blunt, this rum is not at all living up to it's reputation.

I do however approve of this rum as a type of dessert. I'm imagining it being a good addition to a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. But for sipping in front of the fireplace, i would go for a much less sweet rum.

This version of Zacapa is allowed to drink in any way of the consumer preferred, but it should not be marketed indicating 23 years, I think it is more related to one of 10 years

Low 8
Popping off the top it smells like diplomatico and brugal. So this will be on the sweeter side. Little cinnamon spice if im not mistaken, no alcohol smell. In the glass it smells much different an alcohol molasses smell more like. I give this rum an 8 dont get me wrong it is good but I feel like this is not worth its price. For 48$ it should be around 25$ taste value wise. This rum is pussers if they messed up, so I will recommend pussers over this. Not very good in diet coke. Has a nice entry then a weird chocolate bitter after taste that I am not fond of. After letting it breath for a while it got better but still I will recommend other bottles over this. I sound like I hate this but its pretty good but just cost wise its what makes it lose for me and I'm all about the bang for the buck. But putting that aside it is an 8/10 rum.

This had a lot of hype and for me, simply didn't deliver. It wasn't bad at all, but not one I would buy again with so many fantastic choices in this price range.
