Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Po tom ako som čítal o tomto rume, som čakal teda viac. Síce príjemná chuť a vôňa trochu po alkohole no záver sa dá. Dlhší príjemný, trochu stále korenistý, no od zacapy som čakal omnoho viac. Zo sklamaním sa budem lúčiť s týmto korenistým rumom ktorý vo mne zanecháva rozpačitosť.

We didn't sit at all, I'm into sweeter rums and here I was disturbed by everything that was in that rum and it was hard for me to get rid of it. Nevím, jsem asi jiný, tento rum jsem pro celosvětovou chválu koupil mezi prvními, a dokonce hned litr, a pak jsem nevěděl, co s ním. Vůbec jsme si nesedli, jsem na sladší rumy a tady mě rušilo snad vše, co v tom rumu bylo a horko těžko jsem se ho zbavoval, od té doby kroužím od všech Zacapů co nejdále, i když jsou možná dobré a chválené, ale mě stačilo...
This stuff tastes like Diet Coke, and yet it's the most popular rum on the website. I don't get it.
With current travel restrictions I was forced into Total Wine for a replenishment of some sipping rum. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being incredibly disappointed and 10 not at all, I'm probably an 8. I knew that this was going to be the best I could do. Is it drinkable? Yep. Is it tasty? Not as much as my preferred rhum agricole. It's slightly worse than a Flor de Cana I had just run out of. One glass and I'm good. It will be a good back up and is a lesson learned to forage more deeply into other purveyors in my area.

Had read alot of promising reviews about this bottle but the flavor wasn't in my taste.
I find it hard to pin point what I don't like about this rum, I guess it's the blend of it all, just don't sit well with me.
Nice on the pallet. Soft brown sugar, banana, and caramel. Taste very artificial on the pallet. Not gross by any means. A great bottle to gift someone else.

Actually quite dry and oaky.

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Better on the nose

The nose gives me a rich caramel note with a hint of spice. On the pallet, a citrus spice combo takes over. This is ok for me but I have other, cheaper Rum that I prefer to this.
