Three rums from this independent French bottler finally arrived to the shelf of a favorite liquor store. After reading several reviews on here, I decided to pick the one from the country that has many of my highest ratings. Because this one is column distilled from fermented molasses, you will not find the true Panamanian character in this one. However, it is an extremely smooth sipper that is not offensive at all. At $54 US, it is also easy on the wallet. The vintage cruise ship on the label really adds character to the bottle, but I did not buy it for the label. They are very transparent with no additives stated. It is aged for 7 years in the tropics of Panama and 1 final year in France, where it is bottled at 43% ABV. Nothing fancy on both casks, just the standard oak. Now it's good luck finding another bottle.

TCRL does a good job of making a rum that is easy to drink straight. From my understanding their rums are blends, so keep that in mind. Most of the aging is done in the proper climate with true distilling. Most of these reviews are copied and pasted off the description on the box. I do believe this is worth trying.

I had higher hopes for this one. Given its age, I expected smoother. It was just okay, with the slightest oak flavor. Mixing did not improve it.

Column stilled but tastes very similar to Panama Pacific 23, just a tad less both in flavor and price. Basically a good sipping rum with no additives and oak forward. Odd that the scores are so different but to each their own.

Nose is standard Panamanian molasses rum, taste is good not too sweet but oh man that peppery burn on the finish is overpowering it feels like a 65% hamilton overproof when it’s only 43.4%abv. Makes it very hard to drink neat (way I rate rum) without pepcid ac on hand

Light hay coloured. Nose is a hint of alcohol and not much else. That pretty much sums up the rum. It's not much of anything. No strong flavour on tongue or going down. Maybe a hint of apricot? Maybe some graham cracker? That's probably a stretch. The issue is that there isn't much other than a mild taste of alcohol. But no real burn either. On the rocks it is meh. With some ginger beer I give it a 6.5. But not close to worth the price. Nice retro label on the bottle though.

Un peu cher pour la qualité, mes attentes était plus élevé. Fruité, doux. Un peu boisé et un peu complexe en final. Je lui donne quand même une bonne note.

Full disclosure, I have not had much rum from Panama, so if this is “true to style”, I can’t speak to that. Light in color, smells of dried fruits. Flavor profile is pretty one-note with the fruit, but I catch a bit of pastry and wood. A bit of a burn on the finish, which I was surprised by at first. Reasonable sipping rum, or on the rocks, but not spectacular for the price

I know lots of people who find this too simple but that’s one of the reasons I love it. Just a delicious sipper when I want to open a bottle and not think about it and just enjoy.

Given to me as a gift. Light in color. Young. Dried fruit and ester onthe nose. Molasses dried fruit on the front then wood. The finish has a light burn with burnt molasses. More if a mixer id say.
