Aroma - fresh pear followed by orange peels.
Taste - pear cobbler followed by sweet oranges, oak, and then a fresh pear finish.
First off, my rating is a 5.5 out of 10, I can't select that option though so I chose 5 on this website. So I've always been curious about Australian rums and I saw this one at Total Wine on sale for $17 and decided to grab it. The flavor is unlike any I've ever had in a rum before and quite different. Mainly in a good way, like a warm pear cobbler. I am definitely interested in trying more rums from the Beenleigh distillery in Australia. This one is a bargain at $17 and a maybe for the original price of $25 if you like what I described in my tasting notes.
Cane Island Australia rum

Point: 5
Tasted on 12/31/23 thanks to Admiral Bill. Pours a rich golden amber color. Nice butterscotch aroma. Flavor has a bit of rubber band, but it is not off putting. Nice medium palate sweetness and an easy drinker. I like the buttery flavors that meld with the caramel. Pretty good rum. I could drink this regularly. Thanks Bill!
Aroma dulce, sabor a miel, banana madura y pasas, quema un poco al final
It smells really cheap, the taste is a blend of burn and some sweetness. All in all nothing special.
Very interesting flavour profile. Tastes of sweet honey and mild fruit. A very perplexing herby taste takes old, although distinct characteristics were difficult to discern; more of a mixed bag spiced rum vibe. Not bad but not great
not sure how a rum gets a taste of peat but it tastes like Scotch to me... Very off-putting
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

this is my 5th cane island and i have yet to enjoy one except with cola. It's cheap and there are many out there that distinguish themselves way beyond the cane island brand. check out the rankings....there is something like 18 rums with 3 being rated over 7: Nicaragua, Barbados and a blend that scores an “8”. those are the 3 I would stick with.
