This is the uncolored version from the 2003 Savalla Still.

Smell: honey sweetness, a bit of musty wood (that evaporates after 15 minutes) and light fruits with lots of vanilla pudding greet me. The smell is slightly viscous, this is not necessarily a PM, the rum is still light. It points in the direction of an Enmore. Papaya with melon in sugar syrup are other flavors. It's cuter than it looks even though it's not colored. You can also smell typical light wood from the wooden pot and have a slightly buttery note. This rum is nicely juicy, hardly any heavy aromas for this old one, but the wooden pot comes into its own.

Taste: Sweet start with honey, vanilla and melon. The pot still wood is of course included. The rum quickly increases in spiciness and tingles on the tongue. In the middle it develops more tannins with a slight bitterness, the wood and vanilla. It stays sharp and at the same time less fruity.
The finish is a bit spicy, with a bit of buttery notes, tannins and vanilla with wood.

Aftertaste: honey, pot still wood, buttery notes, melon, tannins

Conclusion: It already has a similarity to a PM, the typical sharpness is there. But it is nice and sweet and fruity. It has parallels with MDX from TRC and the Kill Devil Versailles.

Overall rating: 85 points
