Last week I had a Havana Club 7yr on the rocks at a bar (there wasn't any better choice of rum). I thought ok, for that price it is really not bad. Now I got a bottle of Ron Varadero 7yr and it reminded me of the HC 7yr. Then I saw the comments here on rumratings.com and it made perfect sense to me that this must be the exact same product but with a different label. It is a nice cheap rum. Color is light, taste is harsh, aroma a bit flat, but still too nice to mix it with cola or something. If you see it in a store, buy one. You will not regret it.

Glass of Ron Varadero 7y revealed quite a strong burn. Bottle and label looks very nice, but its all blacked out. Golden color. Pure burn. Typical Havana rum, so that's a nice compliment. Mix it with your favorite soda and it's actually pretty solid mixer rum.

This is - to my taste - a much better rum than the Havana Club 7yr, as it is sweeter and richer. Very good with an ice cube, not as refined as for example the 8yr El Dorado, but nonetheless a very good bargain!

Smooth and soft with a bit of sweetness. Nice dark color.

That being said it is not a bad one, if you are looking for something inexpensive that will keep you company as an everyday sipper. Very good on sugarless mojitos.

There are many rums and rons out there, but this aged strong and soft balance, perfumed simplicity and deepness together is really a wonderfull spirit representing a timeless and real cuba, southern fire, beautyfull power for dancing parties,...

Aroma is fruity and flowerish (pear, tropical fruits, smth unidentifiably flowerish), spirit is almost absent and caramel reveals after a while. In a few words, aroma is nice. Again fruits and caramel in taste but caramel is in the background. Taste is softer, richer and more balanced compared to the 5-year version. And no that weird chemical whiff. Aftertaste is not very long, but sweet and has some light herby notes at the end. A good rum after all, but fruits (especially pear, as for me) are too pushy and dominate over burnt sugar. It's interesting to pair it with a cigar: fruits nearly disapper and burnt sugar becomes stronger, especially in the aftertaste.

Much better than other old english collony rum style. Some of over 10 years old have poor taste compare to this heaven nectar

Years ago given by my father to me. Liked it then but now evolved in drinking rum. Never buy it anymore but still is a melancolic rum to.me
