Pleasant smell, smooth, maybe too strong in the end, I prefer little more fat taste.
This rum is very gentle, I think that it can be stronger. But it isn't problem only my opinion. This solera has full body of caramel.
From the previous comments I was expecting it to become one of my new favorites and it was a big disappointment in that way.
I like the Plantation 20th much more.. and also in that category, the packaging is very basic like you would expect from a $20 rum..
Nonetheless, it is a very sweet rum (too sweet for me), so the added sugar gives it a nice vanilla smell and a very smooth robe.
But what is interesting is its taste, kind of burn/smoke like, similar to the whiskey due to its finishing in bourbon casks.
Overall, yes it's good but no worth its top rank, won't buy it again.
By the way, it is not a 30 years old but 30th anniversary!!
It is a 23y old solera, which means a blend with younger rums (mostly 6y to 12y old) with little bit of rum as much as 23y old. Surely not a 30y old like the name on Rum Ratings says..
Sugar: 34 GPL
Great aroma, great taste, smooth but yet complex. Long taste.
I like it but doesn't worth it. It's strange for a 30 years old rum. It is too much alcohol in first stroke. It is more Agricole than Caribbean one. So... it is vegetal, it is too alcoholic for my taste. But is good! I don't know what is good, but it is.
Meget lækker og drikke venlig Rom - klar anbefales inden for den søde rom
Big entry, strong stay. Needs to settle into the ice and then ready to roll
Nice rum with a pleasant sherry aftertaste and toasted barrel smell.
It's old, you can taste the gum. I can tell from the smell that the rum was stored in sherry / port wine barrels. The color is also somewhat reddish. Sherry is very dominant, there is not that much original rum left there.
It's very enjoyable, mild but intensive and a little bit spicy, I love the rubber ring taste. I think they had old barrels.
Smell: dried and red fruits, burned sugar, caramel, some smoke with oak/barrel, gum, sherry.
Taste: sweet, combined with some fruits (red fruits, plum), toasted barrel, burned sugar, gum (rubber rings), some leather, spice, some bitterness in the finish
Aftertaste: sherry and cherry compote. Typical for Olive and Oliver.

Classic nice rum

It is very beautifuly smelling rum with a bit sharp taste which I dont expect in 30 year old rum. I would prefer more smooth taste.
Otherwise it has very classic equal taste with a little heat in throat.
This rum belongs to sweet rums but It is not too sweet or too sharp or too mild or too fruity.
But It means that the taste is also not too interesting. The taste is a bit simillar to cognac.
If you want classic equal and a bit sharp manly rum then buy It. But I think It is not worth the price.
If you want something interesting or mild or special then buy Millonario or Plantation XO
