A slightly toned down version of the current caribbean white rums on the market now. I like this in an El Presidente cocktail. Great mouth feel with the vermouth and Curacao. I don't much like this with citrus in a sour cocktail.
Price point is great for what you're getting.
I love the color too. Slightly yellow.
Pretty new to the rum world and am more into cocktails than neat spirits. Makes an absolutely killer daiquiri, fantastic in cocktails.
I recently purchased two bottles of Probitas Rum which is completely out of character for me as I only drink “aged rum” neat. I only made an exception since this 47% ABV rum originates from Foursquare distillery in Barbados and was curious how Richard Seale would pull this one off. My expectations were low given this is a white rum and one does notusually drink white rum neat. Well I was surprised and NOT surprised… Surprised at how a white rum sipped neat could taste so good and NOT surprised as it came out of Foresquare distillery. I can well imagine those making cocktails with this rum mus5 be thrilled. Probitas is NOT a sipping rum but is so good I am drinking mine neat and will get a few more bottles before they are all gone.
I picked this one up to mix up some holiday cocktails, but it’s absolutely pleasant and drinkable on its own over a single ice cube. Very smooth. Just enough front end funk to keep it interesting, but without much burn. Buy with confidence.
I didn't enjoy this as a sipper, but it works great as a mixer. Full disclosure, I put a birch stick in it for several weeks before using it as a mixer. I made an El Presidente with it that was excellent. The Jamaican funk came through just enough to really amplify the cocktail. I offered a sip to my wife and never got it back.
Next step is to see how it does as the base for my homemade spiced rum.
The is an excellent addition to anyone mixing quality cocktails with rum. While this one is good enough to sip on, it really shines when mixed.
It has a great balance of Jamaican funk with the smoothness one would expect from a Foursquare rum. There’s that bit of overripe banana on the nose that I love in a funky rum, but the funk does not overpower.
I love this rum in a daiquiri, it’s delicate esters work really well in that drink. Works well in anything called for a blended lightly aged rum, but with a bit more funk.
This is a other bottle that I keep in stock at all times.
Mix 50/50 when making cocktails. Compliments dark rum well.
Usually not a fan of white rums but this one is very solid. Not quite clear color, a light nose, a little bite going down and a lingering aftertaste.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not bad for sipping and mixing, certainly better than Plantation 3 Year, though I find some similarity. Definite presence of molasses, and I get hints of balsamic vinegar in a good way. Interesting, and makes a decent Daiquiri, though a lot of cheaper rums are far better for this cocktail as this one not as crisp, and the flavor is somewhat overpowering for it. Each to their own! Recommend? Yes. Stunning? No.
