You have both on this site, and some have rated this one on the Veritas page.
I think this ranks with some of my other whites, but a little too much funk . . . and not the 9 or 10 I was hoping for . . . aren't we all? As seen below, the label makes a statement. Good for Foursquare and Richard Seale. Keep up all you work for and stand for. Another worthy product!
Is the Veritas a similarly top choice? I don't know. I haven't tried it. Not sure it available to me in the US.
Good taste, decently smooth, and hold up well in cocktails. I use this as substitute for "white Puerto Rican" rum, although I'm aware the taste profile doesn't exactly match. Still, makes some pretty tasty cocktails.
This is a great, slightly funky, straight forward white option. Notes of banana and very creamy. Gives a great texture.
On its own merits, this is a 5. Blended with other rums and in a cocktail, it adds excellent complexity, and I would give it a 6 or even a 7 in those circumstances.
On the nose, this rum smells delicious; notes of vanilla and banana dominate. Unfortunately, the taste doest match the aromas. I'd have liked more of the vanilla to come through, but the taste was predominantly banana and funk. Those that like funky style rum may like this, but it isn't smooth enough to sip neat.
Mixed into a cocktail, the flavor is a bit overpowering and unbalanced. However, I had great success blending this with another rum for cocktails. Blended 50/50, it added a wonderful complexity and just enough fruity funk in the aftertaste without overpowering the rest of the ingredients.
I'd still recommended this if you're looking for a cocktail rum (albeit blended) but not for sipping.
Tasted at Laka Lono 3/28/21
The notes on this one are clear:
"It's hot. Is what I'm saying."
Not much flavor or aroma other than direct rum heat.
Edit: Mitch e Amaro tasting as part of Lei Away with Brandon rum guy
Appearance: pale yellow
Nose: vanilla and grass
This is a decent run, but there is still a little bit of that metallic still flavor.
I think Probitas is a good white rum. The Jamaican component for me brings most of the tasting notes as I get a strong leather note like I do in Appleton and Smith and Cross. While Smith and Cross is super strong with that leather note being overproof, this still comes across "louder" to me than say Appleton Estate Signature.
I think for a lot of people that adds complexity to cocktails for them. For me, I prefer the light fruit notes of Plantation 3 start without the leather note. That being said I still feel this is a better white rum than El Dorado 3 year's earthy notes.
Tasted at Laka Lono on 4/21/21. Grassy agricole aroma. Flavor has an initial sweetness with a quick tingling bite of ethanol. Then- a wave of honey sweetness washes over you with a hint of lavender. Long, long finish. This feels a lot bigger than it is. Yummy.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I recently purchased two bottles of Probitas Rum which is completely out of character for me as I only drink โaged rumโ neat. I only made an exception since this 47% ABV rum originates from Foursquare distillery in Barbados and was curious how Richard Seale would pull this one off. My expectations were low given this is a white rum and one does notusually drink white rum neat. Well I was surprised and NOT surprisedโฆ Surprised at how a white rum sipped neat could taste so good and NOT surprised as it came out of Foresquare distillery. I can well imagine those making cocktails with this rum mus5 be thrilled. Probitas is NOT a sipping rum but is so good I am drinking mine neat and will get a few more bottles before they are all gone.
