While spending some time in Louisiana, I knew I had to try something local. Granted this is a small distillery, they produced some big flavors. Not one that I’ll keep on my shelf, but one that I will recommend to others. Nice overall, rough around the edges, and a decent burn.

This is different. A bit of cognac in there. I like that it is all natural. Spent the week in New Orleans. Tasted a lot of local rum. Some of it is good and truly craft distilled. This is one of them. Very rough around the edges. Bit of burn to the finish. But this distillery is clearly going for unique craft rums. I applaud them for it.

A little strong. A hint of molasses. Mixed better than straight. More typical of many of the American distilleries that I have tried. My wife liked it better than I did. I'll round up from my 4.5 for her.

This one is actually somewhat hard to find where I live, even though it is made only about 90 miles to my west. Their white rum and spiced rums are quite prevalent everywhere, and I reviewed them under their old name of Parade before they changed it to Three Roll Estate.

As with any craft rum, the distiller goes out of their way to make something that is uniquely different, and such is the case here. However, the problem with that is this won't often appeal to everyone. Then again, craft rums are not made for the mass market.

They grow their own cane on a large farm, and use their molasses to ferment in French oak vats that had been used for Remy Martin cognac. This rum is then finished in American oak casks. It is only 80 proof, but has quite a burn. As for tasting notes, you all know that I am terrible with that!

I picked up a bottle of this at the local shop for $27. The rum is fairly bland overall with a slight bite. Any flavor notes are faint. The sugar cane gives it a faint funkiness, a bit of an Agricole flavor. I will likely end up using this as a mixer, which makes it a bit expensive.
