Picked this up during a recent trip to the states. Has a fantastic nose, sweet caramel and fruits filled the air after pouring a cup. For 56% it was quite smooth, but did feel a mellow burn. If you, like me, started out liking sweeter rums then this is a rum that is still a bit sweet but just the right amount. I added a couple drops of water (at the suggestion of my whiskey drinking brother in law) and wow did that rum ever open up. The burn was gone and the flavor came even more alive. Caramel and pinnapple with a very creamy and smooth taste. This might be my favorite.

Expectations were high as FS rums maintain a high standard. But this was the lowest I've tasted from this distillery, though I thought I'd it like more. Typical FS aroma and taste with a fruitier finish.

Recently I had chance for tasting evening with Foursquare rums. It would be difficult describe each of them here, also there are many reviews on web. So I leave just brief personal remarks. Sorted by my personal opinion from the best. IMHO the winner is Redoutable. Most balanced in all aspects. Second on my rating is Empery (sharper smell, lot sherry, wood and caramel) together with Shibboleth maybe the most raw (just another kind) so like the other two more. Right after those I like 2008 which seems to me better significantly then other years I have already tried (2007 or 2005). The one I miss and I'm looking fwd is Nobiliary and Dominus so I hope next time.

I have no words to describe the delight my tastebuds have just experienced.

So glad I took a chance on this one. Really enjoyed it on my first tasting, and appreciated it even more after tasting it head-to-head against Premise.

On the nose, there was some similarity to Redoutable with a slight butter cream frosting and cake batter. I also found some apples and some type of dried fruit. With the initial taste, I noticed a hint of cola, followed by some vanilla. It left a slight oakiness and tobacco with a heat that faded pretty quickly. My nose and palate were being a little wonky on the day I had this, so I'm certain it will be different when I have it again (my COVID-19 vaccine seems to have screwed with my smell and taste a little bit).

As the "big" brother to Premise, I found this to be much more pronounced with the scents and flavors. A very enjoyable sipper.

Sampled 1 oz of Foursquare Empery this evening. I was expecting this 56% ABV to be another “10” bu Mr. Seale and was not disappointed. Wonderful rum, the 56% ABV is hardly noticeable given the smoothness of this Rum. Only one criticism, this rum is NOT available in my area. I wish Foursquare rums were readily available, they are simply the best.
Now I have to find and buy a full bottle!

Very complex and good rum… had a lot of fun with it! Once you take a sip, your mouth fills up with oak! Very impressive, if you like oak 😏 Nice to end a hard day!

All foursquares so far have been amazing 9 and 10, but this burns like an unaged rum, the sherry is too faint (thought it would be more prominent like the abuelo finish collection)

Very pungent. Intense, getting some grassy Agricole flavors somehow. Way more complex than the others

Color, finish great. Perfect rumbfor a Cuban style daiquiri.
