If you are building a rum critic's vocabulary, Ron Centenario 5-year is a good place to start. That's because it is difficult to find any flavor to comment upon, apart from the flowery sugar note with a hint of ginger. Finding more than blandness to comment upon suggests that you have a nose for reviewing. This rum mixes well with lime juice and salt, yech!
Vůně: příjemná, nevýrazná
Chuť: prázdná, jemná
Opětovná koupě: ano
Cena: okolo 500,- Kč
This rum screams Costa Rica. Its on every shelf in the country, its cheap, will not give you a hangover (probably) and is consistent, which is more than I can say for most. Grab one, drink it, buy another.
although many might disagree...
Very light in colour
Slightly funky nose with hints of over ripe banana
Very sweet in the mouth (4/5)
The esters carry through, giving it a spiritey note mixing with prominent alcohol.
Moderate burn and the aromas linger.
Young and lively, if you like Jamaican pot stills, this might work for you, but the added sugar is a downer.
When we were in Costa Rica the Centenario they served tasted much different than this. I think they were serving a 2-yr, but now I'm not so sure after looking at the selections. They showed us the bottle and it sure did say 2-yr on it. All I know is that what they were serving was tasty. This was okay and I think many people will enjoy it. I generally prefer silver rum, but this pulled me back to the darker side.
Smooth but I think its a mixer to best enjoy but a true delight.
The color should have been an indicator from the start. Very light and lacking color. Smell was ok but very harsh and lacking flavor. Maybe good for mixing, not neat.

Not even worth to review I am afraid 3 out of 10
I bought this in a set with 4 20cl bottles of the 5yo, 7yo, 9yo and the 12yo Centenarios. I feel too insulted by this rum to really try and get all the flavours right. There is a very light nose that has some vague notes of rum in here, not really bad but hardly existing. Easy drinkable because of the added sugar (or in this case; artificial sweeteners?) but nothing interesting going on. Cheap rum for alcohol lovers who don't really care what they drink. I wouldn't want this for free to be honest. Too much sweeteners added to take this serious but not enough to take away the sharp edge.
