Ron Centenario 20-Year rum is produced from Costa Rican sugar cane which is turned into molasses before aging in American white oak barrels up to 20 years using the solera aging system.
The company producing Ron Centenario 20-Year rum used to be named Seagram de Costa Rica, but in 2002 changed its name to Centenario Internacional. The rum wasn't sold outside of Costa Rica until 2007.

I REALLY like the Centenario 25 and 30, and so I tried this side by side with them. It was VERY close. This is a bit sweeter, much like the El Dorado 15 is sweeter than the El Dorado 21. I like the extra aging on the 25 and 30, but I also like the sweetness of the 20. I'm torn between the three. It's very close, but this is the winner for me. An exceptional rum that is very underrated in my opinion.
Wow! Dopo aver assaggiato il 30 anni, speravo di avere tra le mani un buon rum, ma di certo non pensavo fosse una chicca del genere! Piacevole al naso, piacevole al palato. Il cioccolato è preponderante, ma non stucchevole. Di sicuro troverà un posto d'onore nel mio bar.
Nice sweet rum not to complex, with a hint of licorice in the end.... absolutely a keeper

With the 20th version, I started with the Centenario edition, and I will probably end up with it. It is one of the three most popular. I also tried the 25y version and it wants to ventilate a bit, it's more demanding. 20y just makes me more fun.
20y verzí jsem s rumy Centenario začal, a asi u ní i nakonec skončím. Je to jeden ze tří nejoblíbenějších. Zkusil jsem i 25y verzi a ta chce již trochu vyvětrat, je náročnější. 20y mě prostě víc baví. Ještě zkusím 30y, ale ta cena je už moc.
Pro vyjímečný rum, jeden z nejlepších, který jsem ochutnal. Zajímavý nádech ovoce, okamžitý nástup chutí a poté jejich pozvolné a velice jemné promíchání v chuti rumu a postupný nádech jemné chuti dřeva ze sudu, to vše zůstává na jazyku poměrně dlouho. Jeho jemnost a exkluzivní chuť je pro mne jako světlo pro můru. Pro mne s velkým náskokem favorit.
I am admittedly a beginner in the rum world, but this is by far the best rum I've ever had. I've sampled a few rums at bars, etc. but have only recently started buying bottles for my home. I don't think this bottle is going to last very long, as I will surely go through it quickly. It's so good, I almost hate to drink it by myself.
I normally enjoy rum on the rocks but could easily see myself drinking this straight up. Has absolutely no burn or bite and goes down very smoothly. Some rums have a good flavor once you can get past the initial sharpness, but this is smooth from start to finish. I can't imagine what the 25 or 30 year tastes like. I assume my mind would be blow if I tried one of those.
I have quite a nice collection of rums and this is as good any rum I have. Nice aroma, taste with no afterburn. I prefer on the rocks.This rum is too good to add mixers. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

This is the best rum I have ever tasted no question, and is why it's called the "pappy of rum". It's got everything, and is on par with the finest whiskey you could bring to the table. Barbados is rum, and Centenario is king
