Bacardi Gold rum

Bacardi Gold

United States | Gold | 40% ABV

Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.

Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

What can I say, if you pour enough coke in it it tastes like coke. My years of cheap drinks at the bars are hopeful long gone. If you want to get a cheap rum go for cruzan over Bacardi.

If I'm in the CVS and it's a choice between this and the good Captain for a gold rum, I'm going with this. It's passable as a mixer and possible (but not advisable) to sip. It's worth it if it's on sale and you have a max rum budget of $10, but unless you're buying for a frat party, it's better to just shell out the extra five bucks for Flor de Caña.

This will not provide much taste other than alcohol. There are slight hints of butter and caramel if you really concentrate but they are gone in an instant.

Many of the reviews here seem exaggerated in their dislike of this rum and others like it. They are often funny to read but I take many of them with a grain of salt because they can also be full of similar ideas.

This rum is basic stuff and certainly far from amazing or even “good”; however it’s also perfectly drinkable if there were no other options. Neither the nose or palate show much intensity or complexity. It’s boring more than “bad”.

“Easily consumable in a bind” scores a 5 according to the rating system here. That’s accurate.

Too many Rhum snobs on this post. This is the rum that goes with anything. Respect the bat!

Straw gold with quite a sweet, honey flavour that is uncomplicated and easy drinking.

Overall a good rum. Not a bad flavor and a good mixer. Good for occasional rum drinkers.

Solid gold rum. Not bad as a sipper. I don't like mixed drinks. An everyday pour on the cheap.

I never really liked this rum even back in my college party days. The harshness overpowers flavors that are not impressive to begin with. This is what you give to guests you don’t particularly like so as not to waste your good rum.

This smells like the bathroom in a sorority house during a basic white girl party. It does have slightly more flavor than a basic white girl but it will singe your nose hair as it hits your palette. Mix it in a Mai Tai with something else for God's sake.
