I use this to make a Dark and Stormy... has a nice smooth finish. I have found it to be the best dark rum to make this drink.

At first this rum seems to have a bit of a bad rep, but I must say it's much better over runs such as malibu black. This rum has a tad lighter color than some traditional rums I have seen, suck as Kraken, although I suspect it is darkened by a bit of caramel.

Chilled, this rum seems easy to drink straight for me, the aftertaste is a bit of a sweet cane and slight bitterness. The burn while drinking this rum is actually not that bad at all.

Overall, this rum may seem bad at first, but I think this can be a decent rum for a backyard party or a decent mixing rum for a cheap but doable drinking party.

Trying to find rums that are every day negotiable and appealing enough to buy again :
Creosote (banned by US Gov for years) was used to preserve telephone poles from rotting .
Having lived close to creosote plant for years , I know Creosote .
Tar smells better and and is more palatable .
To duplicate Bacardi Black : Simply take a shot of vodka and lick the inside of your chimney flue.

I say astringent. It has a really strange isopropyl taste. But it’s dark so it looks more like cough syrup. Either way it belongs in your medicine cabinet NOT your liquor cabinet.

Honestly Bacardi...what are you doing here? This company has no pride. They’ll bottle anything!

For a mixed drink it works. Would never drink it on its own. I've seen people say it reminds them of band-aids? I didn't get that just burning and some spice. Personally think it's overpriced for how underwhelming it is. Seems like one of the club alchohols people order to sound like they know liquor.

Dark and dense. Forgettable. You get what you pay for. There are many better dark rum choices out there!

This rum is at most times $9.99 for a 750ml where I live in CA. It has nice oak notes but a harsh medicine finish. Stop excepting this to be a $40 bottle. It is a great 3rd rum for Tiki drinks and I do not recommended to drink straight. Mix in drinks in small amounts and enjoy the added oak. Too much will overpower
