Barely drinkable, hard to swallow
good rum for value. good rum The aroma of chocolate with raisins, hazelnuts, figs. Palete: vanilla, chocolate, sweet tea. Sweet, tea finish and chocolate with cherry.
I picked up a bottle of this in the local village shop, it was the only bottle or rum left on the shelf, but I understand why.
The dark rum has a faint bit of sweetness on the nose, but it smells young with a very alcoholic smell. There is a faint hint of this sweetness on the taste, but this is followed by a strange greasy or buttery taste that seems to linger in the mouth unpleasantly. I tried to mix it to see if this could be masked with a mixer but this greasy/buttery note could even be tasted through the cola and was incredibly unpleasant.
This has to be the worst rum I've sampled, I wouldn't even take it if I were offered a bottle for free.
Enjoyed some Glen's Dark Rum while vacationing in Melbourne. Cheap and boring bottle and label design. Mahogany color. Pure alcohol and plenty of oak with mild vanilla to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Strong and dry burn at the end being so dry. Whisky fan boys can add 2 points to my score.
