Fantastic rum. Tons of flavor including salt water, olives, grilled pineapple, and other tropical fruits. It also smells of nail polish remover in the best way imaginable; it is super funky. This has the best nose of any rum I have ever had. A cabinet staple for me.
It is certainly warm at 69% ABV, but still approachable. Swims great and makes an amazing cocktail (e.g., Daiquiri). This is an incredible distillate; they are doing something special down in Grenada.
This costs around $70-$80 in New York and I think it is a bargain. A wonderful product and, in my opinion, a perfect spirit. 11 out of 10.
I would compare this to W&N overproof, but this is on steroids and has a touch of agricole flavor in there. Super ripe bananas and pineapple, rotten banana trees, glue, sharpie, dusty old classroom with a chalkboard, and brine. Considering where this rum comes from and how it’s made, it’s extremely well done. A lot of rum producers wish they could get flavors like these. I am very impressed with this rum.
Spray intense and delicious cane rum. Tastes almost like a super high abv Agricole blended with some Jamaican
Very flavorful. And hot
Smell is first, like agricole. Also funk
Then taste is sweet ish
It’s sippable but slightly difficult, due to 69%
Visited this distillery a number of years ago. Rum made how rum was made centuries ago. If you’ve ever wondered why pirates are so bad tempered it’s because they drank a lot of rum like this !
I tried this in so many ways and in the end I found it is amazing as a 1-2oz addition to 4L of rum punch I make. Otherwise it’s just too “burnt pot still” for sipping, mixing or Tiki drinks.
I have only started my path through funky high-ester rums but non that I’ve tried where quiet as unique and intense as this one. So many aromas going on and a lot of surprising fruit notes, almost bubble gum.
Definitely worth a try to understand how far rum can go.
Slightly metallic note on the nose.
"It has a briny and slightly savoury note. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Weird aroma but taste doesn't match

Aroma is, frankly, just weird. Fruit, vegetal, fishy, and a pure alcohol warmth. Taste is more conventional though still huge esters. Banana, bubblegum, peppery, warming alcohol, plantain, finish is pepper all the way
3/10 for aroma, 7 or 8 for flavour
