Lots of oak and spice on the nose. Less oak on the palate, but still a pretty dominant flavor.
Finally an aged Agricole that tastes like Agricole. Love it.
I’m really loving this Rhum! Buttery smooth vanilla, grass and green apples with a perfect wet mouth kiss of oak. Slight bite at the end, but then a whisper of sweetness to seal the deal. I haven’t tried it YET as a Ti Punch, but I’m guessing this will be awesome! Grab a bottle If you can, (426 bottles)and enjoy the taste of Martinique. Very Impressive!
This rum reminds me of when my friends were getting me to dive into scotch. This is a top of the line aged Agricole rum, it has turned down the grassy freshness of unaged rums from Martinique, and picked up the flavors of the inimitable Limousin oak (normally reserved for Remy Martin only). Bottle at a high proof, adding a touch of water to sip, or a tiny slice of lime + ice for a Ti' Punch, this is a truly outstanding bottle. I look forward to other offerings from Neisson, and diving even further.
Le Rhum Vieux Par Neisson. Ed Hamilton 2016. French limousine oak. 57% ABV. A glorious balance of distillate, wood, and age. Everything by I love about the Reserve Speciale, but turned to 11. Cola and spice. Absolutely delightful. Long finish despite its youth. 10-
