Bacardi 151 rum is one of the most well known overproof rums on the market. 151 tends to be the most common overproof strength because in pot stills this is the natural dillilation proof, but overproof rums in generally can range from 100-170+.

Yes its a very strong rum and its not going to be a smooth sipper but Bacardi's overproof offering is just too much. Fine in a very low ratio with a mixer but at that point why not go for a standard 40% rum.

This is the nastiest stuff i have ever had in my mouth. I have siphoned gasoline that had better flavor. If you are making Hurricanes at least find a better over proof rum to use. This stuff should be banned.

I just poured it down my drain. It achieved a 2 only because it is alcohol. Tasted like lighter fluid. I've had dark 151's that were amazing. This stuff was terrible.
...after reading all of the reviews, but still not my favourite overproof.

No other rum adds kick to your mixed drink like 151. Not to be taken straight or on the rocks.

High alcohol content makes little room for enjoying any flavor that may exist, it might as well have been clear. If you're drinking to forget then this is the one. 151 is a cruel mistress that one can use an excuse for inexcusable behavior.

Had this in New Orleans as part of a mix with another rum and fruit punch (Hurricane)...I was set after one drink and I am sure this was the rum that sent it over the top. I tried it by itself once...never again.

It is used as floaters in drinks or set on fire. If you seriously drink this as your drink of choice, you have a problem deep than your liver. Just leave it on the shelf and move on.
