Crystal clear in the glass.
In the nose very fruity and floral.
Flowers and candied fruit on the palate.
In the finish quite ok.
A white molasses rum from La Réunion for great mix and arrangé.
Unique bottle in the shape of a scuba air tank, a eye-catcher in every bar.

I have always thought that this $30 US bottle of rhum in a very unusual bottle was just another gimmick. I was hesitant to buy it, but Rene Rum's review inspired me to go for it and add it to my large order in central Florida.

This rhum is made from sugar cane juice on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, a French territory. This is now my first rum from that location. I actually had to go to their website to find more information. It was inspired by divers for divers. The 200 tanks that I dove on scuba from 1988 to 1998 was the best years of my life in the Caribbean, Florida, Hawaii, and Louisiana oil rigs. One thing about diving is that as soon as one takes a sip of any alcohol, their dive day is over with. Rum and diving do NOT mix!

Okay, so how does it taste? There is almost no aroma. There is very little taste, with slight hints of sea water, so the makers have achieved their goal. It may have come from sugar cane, but this one is definitely not a rhum agricole. This one will neither offend anyone nor offer anything memorable. If this one offends you, then just give up drinking. However, it somehow does not mix well with ginger ale.

Update July 23, 2021: This poor excuse for a rhum has now been downgraded from my initial rating of 6 to a 5 to never be bought again. I have no idea what makes this one so wrong, but they obviously tried for this goal where it was made as a gimmick to catch eager divers like I was. This rum is total crap folks! Don't fall for it unless you want that terrific souvenir bottle to remind you of your most wonderful diving days. I wound up pouring the rest of this shit down the drain after four months. At this price, the bottle alone is worth it only if you are/were a diver.

It has a really fresh taste for being a rum, couldn't compare it with something else.
I have been drinking it neat and dispite what others say it really doesn't burn for me!

Quite a high burn, otherwise normal white rum with a floral scent.
