The older version (Zaya 12) was a sugar bomb too, but this one is even sweeter. Like liquid candy.
I jumped on it because of a significant price reduction... now I know why.

Imaginary liquor, still classic rum;
The best on nose;
Sweetness the must to be;
Where it's from? From Trinidad or from Tobago?
Why it's limited to .75l!?!
Viva T&T!

Ok, ะฑะต reasonable - minus one point just to be reasonable

I like this one for sipping smooth with no harsh finish, Good after dinner dessert rum.

This is my go to sipping rum. Its smooth, pleasant on the nose, not to sweet and has a hint of vanilla.

I've tried it straight. I've tried mixing it with Coke and other sodas. It smells sweet to me, with an initial scent of vanilla, cinnamon and molasses, but it has a really caustic smell under that. It tastes a lot like that, but they caustic taste overwhelms.

This is a good tasty rum for sipping but it's very heavy on the molasses sugar base.

Nose is very sweet filled with vanilla maple syrup and toffee

Taste is very thick heavy on the sugar with molasses vanilla burnt caramel and a smooth finish.

Might be it bit too heavy on the added sugar

Long time zaya fan as an inexpensive smooth sipper. I do like this with a Single rock. Like the 12 it is VERY smooth. Sweet forward, almost no spice. Really Just a mellowed version of the 12. Easy sipper, but not very complex. I will buy again.

This rum is beyond bad. Too much vanilla and a heavy metal petroleum taste. The taste is so toxic, I'm afraid this rum has poisonous materials in it. Its going under the sink for the next time I need an abrasive toxic cleaner since I can't return the bottle due to Covid. Gross.

Lots of those wonderful baking spices. A lovely sweetness, caramel and vanilla. Quite enjoyable as a sipper to enjoy the flavors.

This 16 year old lacks the nuances of the 12 year old. Smooth? Absolutely. A nice rum. The 12 year old has less wood and more subtle flavors. The great thing about reviewing is you can dwell on the fine points! Both 12 and 16 are very good rums. I prefer the 12, especially neat. The 16 is a FINE looking woman. The 12 is a fine looking woman carrying a GREAT bottle of rum!

It still has that artificial nose to it like the 12, only with more substantial body.
