To me, this rum tastes like cough medicine but with a delightful pine-sol after taste.
I believe that it was once a much better tasting rum.

Vanilla, molases hints in smell. A lot of charred/burned wood flavor and defitinely sweet. It does burn a bit, quite unexpectedly as sweet rum tend to be milder. It's only above average...

Very vanilla taste, almost a slightly better Whalers rum at twice the price

This is the worst Rum I’ve tried to date… yuck. I’m not sure if the 12 year is any better but this is nasty. I poured me some,, tried it, yuck. Let it air a bit and tried more,, yuck,, dumped glass in the sink.

I characterize this as a sweet sipping rum or an expensive additive to Coke. At first something was peculiar. I couldn't pinpoint it. I thought I had tasted this before, but this tasted better. I eventually figured out it had a sweet strong vanilla (almost astringent) nuttiness that reminded me of the many spiced (party) rums I've had, but this is decent enough for sipping.

The only spiced rum I have at the moment is Kraken. I smelled them back to back and the aroma is very similar.

As a fan of sweet sipping rums it's not my favorite (that's for Kaniche XO). It will remind you of college party rum and cokes, but a bit more tolerable and a different profile than my other sweet sipping rums.

I understand where a lot of bad reviews here are coming from, because this rum really is sweet. It's not the rum you pull out for your Whiskey loving friend, but as a wonderful vanilla icecream like desert wine to have after Caribbean food, wonderful.

Relatively smooth, this rum is exceptionally sweet and heavily spiced.

This is not a "sipping rum" nor is it a mixer...pour a large drink and enjoy...

Not the best, but still very high quity.

The first time I tasted this I loved it. However, have struggled to get through the whole bottle. It's a good rum to share.

Just not good. Can't imagine there's anything 16 years old about the aging of this. Tastes like a Bacardi mass production. I don't mix and this just is not a sipper in any sense.
