Pere Labat Blanc 50

I blame the lack of availability for so few ratings. This selection offers everything that the Père Labat maison is known for in its more available 59 black label version but without so much of the "bite" that the higher alcohol content version has. This is in my Top 3.

Bought a bottle of Pere Labat Rhum Blanc 50 while vacationing in Guadeloupe. Unique bottle and label design with minimalistic concept, very well executed. Traditional super dry Rhum Agricole flavors are complemented with grass, citrus fruits, floral bouquet and spices to the nose and palate. Strong and dry burn at the end. Rhum Agricole fans boys can easily add 2 points to my score.

Distilleries from Marie-Galante are among the latest to produce rums made by craftsmen. Among these ditilleries "La Guildive" produces "Pere Labat" rums from the name of a missionary that brought major enhancement to the rum production in the early 18th century.
I do prefer Pere Labat 59° which offers less bitterness than the 50° one despite its proof.
