Soggy Dollar Dark

I enjoy Soggy Dark with a Diet Coke. I order as a Dark and Diet in the Carribean. The brand is expanding quickly. Will be in the States this summer. I rate it a 9.

When I visited Tortola on business I could not find this anywhere in shops scattered around Road Town. This is, apparently, a product imported for the use of a certain bar on the island of Jost van Dyke. I ordered it on Amazon in the UK and it was a great New Year's Eve treat, with strong dark rum taste, chocolatey molasses on the finish. Certainly more interesting than Pusser's which orignates from, but is no longer produced in BVI.

This isn’t as much of a sipping rum but a great golden rum to mix with!

An ok sipper, just very bland on the flavor. I think it’s a white rum with color and flavor added.

A full body dark rum. Pleasantly intense with coke, harsh neat or on the rocks. Hints of oak. Noticeably better than their Island Spiced variety.

This was hard to find, had high expectations. Very smooth, somewhat oaky. I seem to taste a bit of cinnamon, maybe pecan, but dont really notice any molasses or vanilla. Seems to be balanced between sweet and strong. Just something missing for me on this one.

A totally acceptable Rum for the price, and I do not mean that in a condescending way. This Rum has lovely fruity flavours, I must admit I am quite taken aback at how good it is, and a very unique taste too, almost Agricole, but with tropical fruit, fresh and zesty, and definitely not overly sweet. Well done "Soggy Dollar", I would definitely buy this Rum again. A quality presentation bottle with an entertaining story of how it got it's name.
