That's some good stuff
It’s an unmistakably English Harbour. The taste is very much like the 5yo but with an much longer and stronger finish.
My feeling is that it tastes very much like an genuine and typical rum a little from the past.
Anyway it’s a must have in my English Harbour/ADL collection.

This monster was accidentally created in the lab ( distillery ) by a longer fermentation in the column still , resulting in an abnormally high congener rate !! Left to simmer for almost 6 yrs created this full bodied overproof creature. Bottled at 66% before being released to the unexpecting public !! Full of flavour and bursting with stone fruits this is a wonderful creation.. but be warned , treat with caution , this beast bites !!
Luca Gargano selected us high congeners rum from Antigua, it is amazing, high volume but very intensive and tasty as expected from Velier.

This is really the case of an unleashed dragon ready to fire a moltitude of endless flavours and aromas ...... definetively a gentle beast to treat with caution!
Graphics and packaging are a bit basic, reporting the "incidental discovering" of this unvealed treasure....if you are used to have smooth and very rounded rums your attention will be soon spotting the amazing 66° full proof ....so beware of that before your guests or companions get totally anesthetized.
Coming to its colour, well, it's got dark amber to orange reflections.
Nose: very very pungent, pepper and vanilla solid base, leaving soon space to all sort of fruits like pears, fig, almandre including tropical fruits like mangos, granadilla and litchies.
Tongue: amazing sweet at first, displaying all arrays of abovementioned fruits, slowly fading into deep amber, salt and pepper at the palate......whaaat an ester bomb!!! Make sure you are close to a water source.
Very good one, unrecognised masterpiece to be enjoied slowly if still available...
On the nose there is ripe strawberry, salt, cinnamon, honey, vanilla, lemon, some sourness, a bit of an estery funk, rubber, oak, ginger, burnt cherry. The palate is stone fruit, pepper, lightly bitter, cream, plums, dates, candied orange, and butter. The finish is pepper and oak, and I'd say is medium (perhaps medium-long).
Adding water, the nose becomes more floral and I get more of the sweet caramel and vanilla notes out of the palate. I notice a light sourness and pecans on the finish. Personally, I think this rum tastes a little more interesting with the ABV brought down a little bit (perhaps the 66% just overpowers my taste buds).
Overall I would say this is the essence of a good rum - no additives, complex, not too sweet and presented at a very high ABV. More rum should be like this. Great stuff!
Had read great things about this rum, so expectations where high. In the glass the rum is a tad darker than straw.
The nose is compact with notes of orange marmalade, chocolate, pipe tobacco and caramel. There's a honeyed sweetness to it and it seems very robust and a bit oaky, though not vastly complex.
Sipping the rum I initially pick up thick, buttery caramel and cocoa powder. It's a very bold, intense tasting rum but surprisingly well behaved. The mid palate brings honey and slightly bitter oak.
A heat spreads out in the mouth, but not as dry or hot as expected, given the 66% vol. The alcohol seem very integrated. There's a bit of tannins and chili like oak spices on the finish that disappears a bit to quickly.
This rum delivers an intense burst of flavor, which is very nice but not immensely complex. I can't help comparing it to rum sixty six cask strength from foursquare, as there are a lot of similarities. For me the sixty six with a little splash of water, just manages to come out on top as the better value, better tasting rum. But there's no doubt that this is very tasty and recommendable (8,7)
Difficile a appréhender. Annoncé comme le meilleur rapport qualité prix 2018. Fort ABV. Quasiment introuvable en octobre 2019.
Après plusieurs dégustations et une bouteille ouverte depuis 2 mois.
Exceptionnel. Je le triple.
I'm really troubled in rating this. I agree with my two predecessors: this Rum is something exceptional. Exceptional because of an accident, so the legend says, apparently due to a failure in the column distillery the material was left for an additional 4 days to ferment... as it so happens, this accident created something of a unique creature... aged almost 6 years in tropical climate it is said to have a 44% angel share that concentrated flavours to a rather unique level. This is a must-have in my opinion, and an exceptional deal in terms of value for money.
So strong (the creator named it "heavy Rum" for a reason) and heavy with flavour... believe me you won't feel it is 66°vol. , the flavour is so intense, the taste egregious in its strength, it would feel much lighter than it is in reality. BEst served, without water as is.
