Bois d’Inde is one of three rivers crossing the Trois Rivieres Plantation. The two others is Oman and St. Pierre, which also has a Rhum named after them.
Info from Trois Rivieres state that the plantations geographic location gives their rhums a special character and rich flavour. The sugar cane grows in clay soils and their roots bathe in sea water. This gives a high sugar content and a remarkable diverse flavour profile.
Bois d’Inde is produced in 2400 numbered bottles and is a blend of 11 great vintages including the very rare 1979.
The included vintages is distilled in a creole column still and then aged for at least 11 years in french and american oak barrels before blended at ABV 42%.
The aroma is smooth and subtle with spices like curry and anise as well as some sweetness.
In mouth and palate the spices becomes even clearer together with the sweetness but also grass and some oak.
The finish which is rather long, tastes about the same, but is also peppery.
It’s a great complex Agricole that won’t disappoint anyone who likes Agricole.
The only minus is the price, in France around 200€ and in cheap German webshops around 160€.
I bought mine from Catawiki for 113€ (delivery included) and at that price it’s good value for money.

Je to koňak nebo rum? Skvělá záležitost. Babiččina skříň z bylinkami a léky, sušená pomerančová kůra.

Strong aromas of fried banana, tobacco, oak and grass. Very smooth, viscous mouthfeel, toffee and leather, dried untreated apricot and banana, a brief hint of wormwood. Lingering aftertaste, great rum.

Aroma is warm and full. Much more mature than typical agricole - first taste is nice, complex sweet and fruity. In second taste you can find the typical agricole tones. Aftertaste is awerage bur pleasant. Main disadvantage is price (170Eur in Czech Republic) - in this price level you can find much better choices.
