Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

My favorite rum is Arundel from Callwood distillery on Tortola in the BVI. Pyrat is my go to since Callwood doesn't export. Deep taste, looooooooong finish. I was elated when I tasted how close it is to Arundel, and have been buying for 20 years.
Color and taste IS so good. We tried at home. Ooooooooo
I'm surprised at the variety of options on this one - maybe it's the marmite of the rum world!
To me it's one of my favourites; nice and smooth followed by a gentle warmth...love it neat
Pyrat XO is the most favourite rum of mine. Love the sweet taste!
Smell: Intense aroma of orange and grapefruit, brown sugar and fruity notes.
Taste: sweet, marmelade ,orange and honey.
Finish: Long, spicy, citric.
It's just a really good rum and it is my gold standard for a "mixing rum." Ice cold, with Coke, or in a mixed drink this rum works with anything, incorporates very well and accents its flavors when mixed. That's why it gets a 9. I keep my bottle in the freezer...its my go-to mixing rum.
I can't believe all the negative reviews. No, its not for most to drink on the rocks and drinking it neat is not going to work at all. This is NOT a sipper... But, this rum is the taste of the Caribbean in a bottle. It balances to the sweeter molasses and citrus/orange side of the spectrum but its still got a lot of bite to it. Spice is not the centerpiece of this rum. But, it is a fantastic alternative to all the spicier or flavorless aged mixing rums out there.
This is an ok sipping rum, but a great rum and coke rum.
Dominant orange bouquet, but not a "spiced" rum. A before-meal favorite.
Very smooth, and as others have said, has a taste of orange and vanilla. For the price point, I really like this rum.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"itβs like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."
"Pyrat XO rum review by Lance from RumConnection"
A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A great sipping rum or with a splash of rootbeer. Great flavor and a nice quiet spice flavor, not overbearing.
