Quite possibly there is some rum in there. But it is so heavily flavoured that it could just as well be neutral alcohol with flavours.
Smell and taste both are sweet and orange-ish. Not the sort of subtle orange one might get as part of the interaction of rum and wooden cases, but rather in-your-face orange; as one might expect from an orange liqueur. Other flavours are some of cinnamon and nutmeg. And too much sugar.
Way too expensive for what it is. If they have actually used good quality rum (which I doubt), it has been ruined by the flavouring.
Buy a cheap orange liqueur instead. If you must, mix that with some sort of not-too-pricey rum.
The most memorable thing about this rum is just the taste of orange on it. It was great sipping on it’s own but I couldn’t help myself, I threw it in a Mai Tai and it was a very unique experience! Honestly would recommend giving the Mai Tai a try for any tiki lover. It really kicks up the flavors of the Pierre Fernando Dry Curaçao I used in a memorable, pleasing way.
Nice Bottle, (they say its Mouth-blown), and the Stuff around are enough to buy it.
After the Bottle is opened, Oranges are coming like a Sledgehammer, if you wait for a while theres a hint of Cinnamon an Clove maybe, but the alcoholic Note for 40% abv is slightly too strong. On the Palate there are Oranges again, but with a unpleasant taste, a light bitterness and a few sweetness. After all there is to say, its not well balanced, and i don´t know who i should recommend this... I´ll not buy the Pyrat Rum again. The Bottle are 3 points, but the content earns nothing.
Honey and a little wood, some cognac. Pours clear copper golden. Leaves with some perfume, potpourri. Something like plum even.
I had high hopes. The botel looked like it will have something more unusual in it but it was not what I found.
As plain as bacardii. Waste of money.
Loads of orange in the flavour and quite a bit of sweetness too. Not too sure how I feel about it as a “rum”. If it wasn’t seemingly orange additives that were the forefront of this rum, I think it would be a lot better. That being said, for what it is, I still enjoyed sipping it after dinner. Definitely something different.
Nice dessert rum, some sugar that is in balance. Citrus is not the taste of pulp, but citrus zest, it seems due to the essential oil. But it didn’t get worse because of that, it’s solid, you can feel the dry wooden base of barrel aging. Good price for this quality.
Du bois et de l'arôme vanille mais ça manque de longueur en bouche.
A really nice rum to taste pure or on the rocks. The orange seems a bit artificial, but who’s complaining about that for this low price! Bottle also looks really great. Unless you are a serious purist, this should be in your collection.

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."

There’s better out there. For it’s price it’s not bad
