Everything the advertising and literature says about this rum falls flat. I bought two bottles, for myself and my old man (67 year old Cuban), we both had one drink and put it away. I returned my bottle. Color is beautiful. Finish is boring. There was nothing there to make me desire another drink. For a solera blend of up to 25 year old rums, this showed almost no complexity.

Not a bad drink on the rocks. Smooth, but not to sweet. My only problem is that they charged me $14 a shot.

Had myself a tasting with the Angostura 1824, Atlantico and Santa Teresa 1796 and the problem for me was that I couldn't quite decide the better of the three. I found them too similar.

This was the first rum I tried pure. And I fell in love with rum after sipping it. It's still one of my favorites, nice and smooth.

Sugar: 26 gpl. This has a nice butterscotch taste and smell to it. It is extremely smooth but the taste fades quickly and gently. It is too sweet to be used as a mixer, and it's smooth taste would be overwhelmed in mixed drinks. This is the perfect rum to serve to those that are trying to drink rum neat. It is an amazing value for what it brings to your glass. I am tempted to rate this a 9 based on the value you get for $30, but it needs to have more complexity in flavour to be rated higher.

This is a smooth, sweet and harmless rum. It's primary emphasis is caramel flavour, so dont expect any adventure or hefty complexity. It's ok but there is quite a few products at similar money, that I find more interesting.

Wasn`t disappointed when i first tried this rum, but wasn`t overwhelmed either. It`s smooth and sweet due to lots of added sugar (25g/L) and lacks that something that makes it stand out and me come back to it. I want to buy RUM, not liqueur.

Pretty mild but five-spice gives a different dimension. Not too much of a punch, nothing necessarily wrong with it but just doesn't excite the mouth enough. Β£38 retail in the UK makes it OK value for money, but there are better rums out there for this price point.

Rating: 5/10

Smell - Light on the nose, vanilla sweetness
Taste - Rich taste, molasses, five-spice and a tingle on the tongue
After Taste - Medium length, rich sweet tasting

Not the best rum but clearly good quality. Defined aroma

Chocolate and caramel aroma, raisins and caramel palate and oak barrel burn tail.

This is smooth but very thin. Not at all complex. Short finish. Not much bite. Predominantly vanilla. Tastes sweetened. Might mix well. Does not sip well.
