Pusser's British Navy ”Nelson’s Blood” 15-Year rum

Pusser's British Navy ”Nelson’s Blood” 15-Year

Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV

Pusser’s British Navy Rum 15-Year is a blend of five rums from Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados which are produced in mainly wooden pot stills. The blend is aged for 15 years.

The company derives its name from the British Navy 'Purser' who distributed a daily 'tot' of rum ration to each sailor - a tradition which lasted from 1655 until 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias obtained the rights to blend the original recipe of the British Navy Rum.

Pusser's British Navy Rum is casually known as “Nelson’s Blood” as a nod to the famous death of Admiral Nelson. After being mortally wounded in a naval battle in 1805, Nelson’s body was preserved in a barrel of rum.

I'm sorry that i can't share the enthusiasm. I had high expectations, and this rum is truly a great, complex one,and i agree that everyone should try it. My taste may differ of the mass, as i prefer sweeter, fruity rums like those from Barbados or Peru.I tried Pusser's 15yo in the Ceramic Hipflask, and maybe the aromas been influenced. Nevertheless it's a wonderful rum but the taste reminded me on a single malt whisky,in the nose it was medical and sappy. Whisky-Lovers will like this rum ,those who prefer sweet rums should go with Barbados or Peru

Smells of vegetal sugarcane, molasses, oak, and bourbon; the taste adds some spiciness. A little too much bourbon for my liking; I'm more of a rum fan.

I find it to be course & biting compared to Barbados Rums

This bottle just did not work for us.
Everyone made one drink then moved along.

...divided by this rum. Had quite high expectations since I had heard it would be a nice rum, but I don't think it delivered. Too much oak and sort of a whiskey taste to it.

Not sure how this is “aged” extremely harsh which is what I’ve found with Navy rums. Dig the tradition and all but hard to just down a drink. If it didn’t title itself “aged” i’d be easier on it but aged usually means smoother and here not so much, I can forgive it from Santa Teresa because it has great flavor but this is gasoline with wood notes

My girlfriend enjoys rums with me and says Pussers is barely drinkable. We think it smells like old socks. My friends who drink much more than I do seem to like it, though. Avoid if possible.

smells horrible, probably the worst smelling rum I've ever smelled. Smells like pure bleach to me. The taste wasn't much better extremely harsh not smooth at all tastes like some type of a cleaning agent. Horrible overall, I drain poured it. Bad bottle?
