Hampden Estate 8-Year

This rum has a very strong character and flavour. It has a lot of over-ripe fruit notes but also lots of petrol/oil characteristics so it won't be to everyone's taste. I actually prefer drinking this in a cocktail like a Mai Tai rather than on its own because it blends well with other flavours.

Silná vôňa plná tropického ovocia, kože a korenia. Na jazyku olejový a výrazný. Na mňa je toho zatiaľ ešte veľa. Určite ho ale ešte neskôr vyskúšam.

Best nose I've had: tons of overripe fruits, savory and herbal bits, and some lingering petrol at first.
On the palate: not as explosive as the nose. Still lots of old bananas and pineapple, herbal and woody, creamy and rich, but all in balance.
Conclusion: unlike it's distant cousin Smith & Cross (a wondrous cocktail staple), this is a very pleasant sipper with much of the same complexity and Jamaican character, without blowing the doors off.

Za mě přesně co bych očekával. V chuti kůže, oleje s medicínou v pozadí. Rovněž vyzrale ovoce a kořeni je také cítit v chuti. Klasická dobra Jamajka.

This is to rum what Laphroig is to scotch. Lot's of funk and brine, but backed up with depth and subtle sweet rum notes. It's well crafted and always interesting, and definitely not for everyone.

Very good rum, nice nose, nice tast en good colour. Buy it if you can!

Ďalší pekný kúsok od Hampdenu. Dobrá voľba pre tých, ktorým je Overproof verzia príliš silná. Tá je podľa mňa lepšia,no ani tento nesklame. Pekný, vyvážený Hampden

This rum is almost as good as some of the $100-150 rums that I have. Deep burnt rubber funk, rotting fruits, and the oak to mellow it and balance the flavors. Not a funk bomb but not at all tame either. Excellent.
