A good amount of funkiness is found amid a generous nose full of ripe banana, papaya, spicy ginger and a faint top note of lime. The palate has more dry, oaky flavours than the nose suggests, with a substantial burn that arrives mid-palate and carries off into the fairly long finish. Some may find that burn distracting. There is also a dry, herbal note on the palate...sage like?? I like the nose more but taken together, it’s a very interesting sipping rum. Recommended.

Nice, sweet profile with an interesting finish. One of the better Jamaican rums.

Price and quality considering it is fantastic if you like Jamaica rum.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt, Mocha, Turkish delight floral top notes, fresh banana, a touch of melted butter and Jamiaca funk.

Could smell this as it was delivered to the table. Hints of vanilla. Rich complex taste. Slight burn on the lips. Very nice neat.

This must be the perfect rum for a Mai Tai! I mean, the original 17 yo Wray & Nephew being unavailable, as well as its 15 yo brother. 12 years of tropical aging are still a lot, and the initial distillates were pure pot-still and ester-rich. And those esters are rather pleasant and fruity, there's nothing glue- or varnish-like about them. It's really remarkable how the curaçao and the orgeat highlight this rum's aroma of its own, it's orangy and pastry-like, so this is a good hint that we're using the right rum. It's true that it has been sweetened with some modest amount of sugar. But all those who want to use it for mixing can't complain. Simply use less rock candy syrup if it's too sweet for you. (It's not too sweet for me.) The Plantation 2005 Jamaican has a very intensive aroma, almost too intensive, so I dilute it with the Mezan Jamaican XO, which reduces the cost, brings the intensity to an agreeable level, and this all without reducing the nicely wooden flavour.

Rhum agressif et piquant au nez et ça ne s'arrange pas en bouche. Une attaque toute aussi agressive, un goût à la limite du chimique. Peu de longueur et un retour très très piquant. Une vraie déception !

This rum starts with a nice nosing with pleasant notes of tropical fruits, raisins and banana. With these flavors also the palate starts off, but then fades away suddenly to a very sweet sugar flavor. Short finish. Not sure whether sugar has been added but this obvious switch in the flavor profile is somewhat dubious for me.
