Navy Island Navy Strenght

This Jamaican pot still rum at ABV 57% is a blend of distillates from Hampden, Worthy Park and Monymusk.
This rum at Navy strength, not to be confused with Navy rum, is aged in former bourbon barrels.
The color is deep amber with a little help from added color otherwise there’s no flavoring additives.
On the nose it’s aromatic and fruity with some funkiness.
In mouth and palate it’s like on the nose but also spicy and oily with a certain sweetness plus that I recognize bananas, citrus and hints of vanilla.
The finish goes on in the same way and it becomes very dry in the end.
Overall a well balanced full bodied Jamaican rum without being extremely heavy and overloaded with esters.

At $48 US for this one, just add the right amount of water to achieve the same taste as their $27 XO Reserve. That is, unless you like a powerful burn. It is still a good budget Jamaican rum.

Strong warm navy rum, with burned caramel taste.
It is not bad, not that strong alcohol taste you would expect from 57%, it is just nicely warming.
Just another above average navy rum.

Light brown color. Slightly sweet with no distinct aroma. Feel the power. My previous overproofs are much better.

Molasses is what I smell. My wife, raisins.  Still working out the flavors. The 11 various pots might be a few too many, as I am not quite there on the taste.  A 4.5 on my scale

Sharp, taste is food but sharp in the throat is too strong, 5/10

It has a strange smell and the initial flavors are unpleasant, but it finishes nicely. So sad. I could have loved it.

Navy rum for sure. Not much else to say about it. I'd take smith and cross any day, but good for the price.
