2018 edition
53,3%abv pot still proof
From Baraderes village
Cane variety: Hawaii
Distilled from pure sugar cane juice with wild fermentation.
Nosing: Huge estery nose, lots of different tropical fruits, apple cider vinegar, brine, strawberry and unripe banana.
Palate: Phew, packs a lot of punch and heat, first comes strawberry and lots of fresh black pepper, brine, apple cider vinegar but not as much as the nose, whole basket of tropical fruit, some sour pineapple and fresh yellow banana, also some rubber and green apple skins. Some "barbeque" like note in the end that is bit hard to describe
Extremely complex and strong rum, might need to do another tasting to really get all the flavours.
Amazing rum, this is possibly my favorite white rum so far.
Thank you master distiller Faubert Casimir and also the Velier team
The fourth in the Madison & Velier line of clairin I've had... (Perhaps more if you count the aged expressions...) And after a couple others, I'm finally getting the hang of these. :)
Like my favorites, a big esthery nose of banana and rubber. But if it smells like a Jamaican, your tongue is surprised by olives and saline along with the hint of glue, lemon peel, and tropical fruit.
Delicious, surprisingly complex definitely worth a try!
Nose: HEAVY sugarcane juice. Smells like cachaca. Sweet, a little mango, in general fruity.
Palate: Similar to the nose, but more grassy than funky. Still plenty of funk but dominated by fruit and grass. A little harsh but not too bad.
Tail: Pretty thin tail. Mostly just lingering tastes from the palate.
Very tasty but my least favorite clairin so far.
Vegetable, floral aroma, red cherry tomato hints. Like most Clairin… very funky rum :)
This is my first Clairin, third agricole sort. It brings range of positive emotions by variety of taste and aroma. Oily smooth, easy with alcohol even being 49.5°. Bunch of berries, exotic fruits, pure sugar cane (: i guess :), bit of flowers, spices and salt detected. Aftertaste is long, not too pronounced, just Ok.
Feel like it very addictive )
... running into liquir store - there are too more sorts available )
Strong hit of white vinegar and maybe just a hint of some spices such as turmeric.
"It kind of tingles on the tongue and you get a kind of kickback of vegetal flavours when you swallow. It leaves a very strong grassy after taste."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Crystal clear in the glass.
In the nose unique and strange. Overripe bananas float in the coconut water, apples, quinces, pineapples and mirabelles also float sporadically in it, a cinnamon stick slowly sinks. Minerals, salt, sulfur, basalt can be found on the bottom. An underwater volcanic eruption ?
On the palate, you fully submerge and are almost crushed by the flavors. Freshly squeezed sugar cane juice is voodooed to give you all the experiences you can imagine. Fruits that you have never tasted and whose names you do not know, inconspicuous spices that surprise you suddenly belong to family and you do not want to miss them. The volcano is beautiful.
The finish is long and sweet. The overripe fruits leave you reveling until only the minerals remain. The volcano fades only slowly.
A bit rounder, more elegant and different than the 2015 Casimir, but that is exactly the genius of wild fermentation. For explorers, lovers and connoisseurs. 8+
