Admiral Rodney HMS Formidable

Caramel notes heavier than the royal oak and princessa and smoother than both but feel that the royal oak finish lingers longer. This is definitely a winner though but feel its too smooth and it loses a bit of what I enjoy.

Tasting notes: dark chocolate, ginger, clove, oak' and vanilla
Nose: toffee, medicinal quality, leather, chocolate

Well balanced. If this rum had a higher cask strength, it would be a 10.

Traditionally strong, a navy rum to respect. Smooth and very drinkable. However the sweetness makes it only tolerable for a glass or two

HMS Formidable (na vodu spuštěna 1777) byla vlajkovou lodí admirála Rodneyho v bitvě u Saints v roce 1782.

Aroma: Příjemně uhlazená ovocnost, výrazné pomeranče, lehounce kokos, mokré dřevo, vanilka.
Chuť: Velmi jemná - vanilka a trochu dřeva. A opět se objevují pomeranče.
Dozvuk: Příjemně trpký, rozinkový se špetkou vanilky a tóny dřeva. Středně dlouhý.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Formidable je určitě nejlepší a nejkomplexnější ze série válečných lodí. Mít o pár % navíc, byla by to pecka.

it s dry and ABV is only 40, st lucia distillers have done better job with their chairman s reserve series ... beautiful bottle and solid unadulterated product, but really can t be named as something particularly good ...

If you like oak you are going to love this. Like the Princessa this is smooth as a widows kiss. From start to finish it is pure pleasure. A little less bite than Princessa, but I like bite. Great balance. Lots of wood with dark fruit notes. Very good, medium complexity. Great sipper. I like the Princessa just a little better. I give this 8.3. Princessa 8.5. Another great rum from a GREAT DISTILLERY.

Very nice amber color. On the nose, honey, raisins and vanilla, tasting, sweet fruit, oaky. Very good.

Přivoníte, napijete se a musíte identifikovat Chairman's s jejich typickými tóny. Je to fajn. Moho to mít aspoň 43.

This one was quite difficult to rate since I had tried their other two that are now available in the USA. I thought that there would be even more oak flavor to this rum than their Royal Oak, but somehow it is kept in check. I still prefer their Princessa, which also happens to be their cheapest with less aging and less oak.
