It is not that it is bad by any means, it is just a variation of that old "plum hidden in oak" trope that you can find anywhere else, but more refined and complex.

Beautiful color, and a lovely light oak flavor, smooth with an upfront heat and slightly sweet nose.

Au nez une légèrement épicée et un peu de caramel.
En bouche, une belle finesse et une structure boisée avec de notes chocolatées et vanillées.
La finale a une persistance moyenne.

Expectations met with this wonderful drop. Raisins, Fresh Oak, Vanilla and Leather dominate this very well balanced and tasty sipper. I get a sense that excellent quality oak barrels were used in ageing this with the leather and vanilla notes...

Compared to other SLD offerings which I highly recommend as summer rums, this really works well in the deep winter cold. It lacks the vibrancy (youth) of the other offerings and feels slightly flat which makes it more subdued and needing more time to appreciate its qualities (not a criticism).

This is easily recommended to beginners to appreciate better rum.

I have absolutely enjoyed the bottle and will gladly add another to the cabinet for a different rum experience to my much beloved Bajan taste. Highly recommend this and oh so close to a 9.

Thought it had a bit if chemical aftertaste at first but that disappeared quickly, 'thick' and 'toffee' is my best attempt astdescribing it

Dozvuk: Štědrá porce dřeva s vanilkou a sušeným ovocem.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
O fous lepší než Princessa, ale na ovocnou Formidable ztrácí. I tak se však jedná o dobrý rum s vanilkovo-dřevitým profilem. Opět platí, že pár % navíc by rumu prospělo.

Distillation: Column still
Aging: Tropical 7-12
Nose: Mild and doesn’t tell you much but without being unpleasant.
Mouth: The attack is absolutely delectable. Like a creamy vanilla butterscotch brandy type flavor that rises high and strong on the first instance. Incredible. This is followed by a smooth-as-can-be rounded rum flavor. St Lucia rums are known for their silkiness and this one fits the bill in that regard. But boy, that attack flavor is really something to write home about.
Finish: Average to long finish that is a gentle flavor wave of continuance, not much new but what is there is very good indeed.

This is not the cheapest rum, which has to be taken into account, but it’s certainly not prohibitively expensive either. I have to give this a strong recommendation because that first attack flavor is worthy of the price of entry alone. It’s that delicious. Maybe one of the best such profiles I’ve ever come across so far.

My spouse felt in love to one of them instantly... After first sip she has confiscated the bottle )) and has declared that is lovely Ratu from Fiji . The thing is the spice, likely cinammon which is dominant in the flavor and slightly in aroma.
If there's special subcategory then Spiced scores 10. If compared to his older brother - score 7.
And here it is Admiral Rodney. One of the best. Complex, rich and long lasting. Wish to try all the flotilla commanded by this admiral.

Smooth, yet with personnality. Toasty oak. A bit on the expensive side though. Very enjoyable!

First admiral Rodney and can't wait to try more. Proper tasty and somewhat complex. Can easily do half a bottle in a sitting.
