For the same price as Doorly's 5y, Plantation Barbados 5y sports similar smell, but this the last positive news here. The taste is much more shallow than Doorlys, of course sweetened as is the Plantation tradition, which in case of Bajan rum which gets some natural fruity sweet notes without any additives seems kind of superfluous to me. Besides being shallow, the taste profile is also significantly less smooth than Doorly's. The taste has certain trait which I observe in Mount Gay rums (Black Barrell, XO), it is something like hoppy bitterness, like and aftertaste of a good Czech beer, but very subtle, this trait is not good nor bad, but just this kind of thing that popped up in my mind. This Plantation is not entirely bad, but Doorlys just beats it in every aspect. Add a star or two if you like sweetened rums.
Fin rom der både smager og dufter af rom og ikke orm.
22 g/ltr of added sugar according to the Swedish national list. Despite having half the sugar of El Dorado 12 yr, it seems sweeter to me. Still a nice rum for $15 I paid for it, with a decent robust flavor that is not overwhelmed by the added sugar.
If you want to see what this is like without the added sugar, try Doorly's 5 yr.
Vanilla and toffee = sugar added to enhance the flavor. Hard to take this rum too seriously.
Very smooth, sweet and refined. Hints of coconut and vanilla. Almost sipping rum.
A decent rum for the price! I tend to prefer spiced rum and have not yet tried many standard ‘aged’ rums, so that may have some bearing on my review. Although this rum is very smooth and does have a nice taste, I found it a little heavy on the whiskey/bourbon flavor for my rum preference. Granted, like many rums, it is aged in bourbon casks so it should be expected that the flavor would come through. It could also just be the Cognac notes that threw me slightly off, or just my inexperienced palate, but I would take almost any spiced rum over this any day. Still not a bad choice for the price, though!
I found this a little heavy on the vanilla.

en super god rom til prisen. Den er rat god rom den smager super godt.
Maybe a little rugged for sipping, this is an exceptional mixer. Sweet, but not too sweet.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A little bit sweet. Excelent on the rocks. Nice finish, coconut and vanilla flavor. Good choice.
