This is my new #1 (out of 10) rum.
If you like the Bacardi spiced, then you might like this vanilla bomb. Folks who say this tastes like it was stored in a damp cellar, or that it's musty are not far off. I believe that character is from fennel, or one of the other licorice-y spices (I detest licorice).
If you like vanilla and licorice, this might be for you. Otherwise to call this "rum" is stretching realiity
I will need to try this one to make sure my tasting notes are correct, but I said it taste like cereal in my passport.
Tried the Old Port Deluxe East Indian Rum and initial impressions looked good. Nice looking bottle, fancy little story on the label, dark alluring color, and a very pleasant smell to the nose. Then it's downhill from here. The rum has a damp cellar taste and a rather offputting afterburn plus a strong alcohol kick at the end.
Nice copper colored rum that displays a wonderful array of flavors that collaborate well together. Dry and fruity with notes of vanilla, butterscotch, ginger, tobacco, nutmeg and nuts.
Nice mixer that can also make a wonderful cocktail...
India definitely p oduces some fine rums unlike any others!
